Authentically local and favored by Washingtonians, the Colonnade’s brunch has pleased the palates of many mothers and their families for over 40 years.\nExecutive Chef Jaime Montes de Oca and Executive Pastry Chef Lyndsey Barton are preparing a variety of regional favorites and innovative specialties, all artfully styled in seemingly infinite buffets. The beautiful setting, featuring greenery, natural sunlight, soaring ceilings and crystal chandeliers, is a perfect backdrop for Mother’s Day Brunch.\nAmong the Chefs’ Mother’s Day Brunch offerings is a waterfront display featuring jumbo poached shrimp, snow crab, marinated mussels, Chesapeake oysters and Peruvian ceviche with Marie Rose sauce, cocktail, cabernet mignonette and dipping sauces.\nGarden and Graze options include local cheese and charcuterie, with local cheeses, air-dried meats and artisanal breads, along with a garden-fresh salad presentation, adds to Mother’s special day.\nEntrée selections include a carving station of salmon en croute and 1855 filet mignon. Chef Montes de Oca’s signature dishes of garlic brined chicken, Chesapeake crab cakes are local favorites.\nA made-to-order omelet station, breakfast favorites and freshly backed pastries also abound. Sundried tomato egg frittata, pupusa eggs benedict, cornflake encrusted French toast, and Belgian waffles are served with chicken sausage Idaho potato and leek hash.\nThe children’s buffet includes crispy chicken tenders, black angus beef sliders, potato latke, steamed broccoli and the ever-popular macaroni and cheese.\nSave room Executive Pastry Chef Lyndsey Barton’s decadent pastry display-guaranteed to please any mother’s sweet tooth. Spring floral cupcakes, lemon lime bars, New York cheesecake, bride’s wedding cake, opera cake are just a sampling. Her gluten free, vegan and dairy free options include; Lavender honey panna cotta, assorted spring macarons, strawberry cream pastry, mango key lime torte and tiramisu.\nAll mothers will receive a beautiful flower to commemorate their special day.\nThe Colonnade is located in Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown at 2401 M St., NW, in the city’s stylish West End. Mother’s Day Brunch, offered on Sunday, May 10 from 11am – 1:30pm, is $169 per person and includes a glass of sparkling wine.
