Spirit(s) of 76: Celebrating 250 Years of Drums, Drams, and Diplomacy

Join us in person for a fun and lively celebration, designed as an immersive tribute to the founding of our nation, bringing to life the sights, tastes, and soundscape of the American Revolution through the music, tradition, and camaraderie found within General George Washington’s Continental Army.

The Washington Tattoo, in partnership with Georgetown University School of Business, Pernod Ricard, Amazon, the Scottish Government, George Washington Chapter of the Association of the United States Army, and Virginia Commission for the Arts, will be featuring Guest Speakers, Jefferson’s Bourbon and the Rollin Drones Bagpipe Rock Band from Glasgow, Scotland for this one of a kind event.

*Open bar and light snacks provided.

Please RSVP by getting your free Eventbrite tickets by 1 PM on April 3, 2026

This experience will feature:

Live performances inspired by Revolutionary War field music, including fifes and drums used to communicate, motivate, and unify troops
Historic replicas of military ceremonial instruments and artifacts from the founding of the United States
Narrative storytelling connecting the musical traditions of 1776 to modern military ceremonial practice and veteran wellness
A featured closing performance by the Washington Tattoo’s Rollin Drones Bagpipe Rock Band

The program will include remarks from:

Mark Reilly, President & CEO, The Washington Tattoo
Jeff Reid Founding Director, Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative
Mark Boyce, Minister-Counsellor, Scottish Government in the United States
Charlie Moor, Jefferson’s Brand Ambassador, American Whiskey

Guests will also enjoy a curated tasting of Jefferson’s Ocean Bourbon, an iconic American spirit whose origins trace back to the whiskey-making traditions of Scotland.

Those early distilling practices, carried across the Atlantic by immigrants, became part of the fabric of a young nation and, in many ways, sustained the fighting spirit of the soldiers who served under General Washington.

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States, this evening is a celebration of the living spirit of our nation, where the sounds and traditions of our past ignite the present and to serve as powerful instruments of connection, diplomacy, and inspiration for a shared future.

We would be honored to have you join us for this opening chapter in the America 250 Washington Tattoo in partnership with Freedom 250.
